What Does a Trader Do & What Jobs Does This Career Path Include?
As a Trader, you can work for both buy – side (Asset Manager) and sell-side (Stock Brokerage) firms in the listed investments industry. Traders buy and sell investments listed on the stock exchange at the best price and time in order to make a profit for clients. They work in different markets / investment groups/ asset classes such as listed securities, debt, derivatives, commodities, and forex, amongst others. Traders may specialise in one type of investment or asset class. Traders watch and analyse the stock market to identify trends and / or changes, analyse performance charts, and devise investment strategies.
