What’s a typical day like in your job?

Start off with a daily stand up meeting to check in with the team. Development work for most of the day. Meeting with stakeholders to understand their processes.

What are the some of the highlights and challenges of your role?

Highlights are the tools and tech I get to work with and the solutions are all very new both at the company and in the world. This is also a major challenge, there isn’t “how to” guide on how things should be implemented. You have to figure things out yourself and justify why you did it a certain way.

How do you keep up to date with all the changes in your profession?

Constant self-development. Udemy courses. Gartner. Github. Stackoverflow. Tech related articles.

What do you enjoy doing for fun outside of the office?

Snorkeling/freediving around Cape Town. There’s a lot of ship wrecks and wildlife in our waters still to be explored.
